Who am I? | Qien soy | Kinsa ako
Saludos, my name is Daphne Vosberg Aldana. I'm a community midwife (CPM) and womb & belly care provider. In another time and place, there wouldn't have been a need for this distinction, as midwives by definition have cared for their communities within and beyond the childbearing cycle. Throughout the millennia we have used our hands to help babies into the world and heal.
My journey on the holistic healthcare path began as a fiery adolescent, fascinated by physiology, fertility, motherhood, and everything in between. This led me to become a doula at the age of 18 and enroll in an intensive clinical midwifery program 2 years later. I witnessed my first childbirths in a remote mountain village in Guatemala among traditional Mayan comadronas. I'm forever grateful to this experience for establishing a foundational trust and reverence for the creative lifeforce that moves through each of us.
I graduated as a midwife in 2020 and sat for the board exam to earn credentials as a Certified Professional Midwife in 2021. Since then, I worked in a low-volume solo practice in my previous remote island home of Vieques, Puerto Rico until relocating in summer of 2024 to join a high volume homebirth practice in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to this transition, I followed my intuition to Taos, NM to attend an Arvigo Therapy training intensive. My suspicions were confirmed; it was a bodywork and encompassed multiple facets of healing on many levels. Now as an Arvigo Therapy provider, I'm deeply moved to share this medicine with others who are inspired to receive it.
Although I studied clinical midwifery, I've always known there were deeper aspects of community care of which modern midwifery only scratches the surface. Living 10 years in Latin America, traveling in different countries to observe traditional healing modalities, as well as connecting with my own Filipino roots have led me to another passion for supporting all bodies throughout the lifespan in coming into alignment with their long-term

My Philosophy
Following my ancestral concept of ginhawa, I understand that like breath, wellbeing is not static; it's a constant ebb and flow, as our bodies display the physical manifestations of our souls' trajectory on this Earth. I also understand that we hold many stories, some from our own experiences, and some of which may not be of our own lifetime, but inherited traumas, beliefs, and ways of existing, that throughout the generations that made us, have been adapted into our DNA. Some of these aspects of our Self are not accessible on a cognitive level; this is the realm of body work and other psychosomatic healing methods.
It can require continuous effort and awareness to bring ourselves into alignment, and thus experience life with joy and ease. The good news is we are not alone in this process; we coexist with innumerable other species who contain miraculous capacity to help us along this journey AND we also carry within us the exact medicine we need heal ourselves and each other.
